sticker translated

a silver bmw 330i pulled in right next to me at the ralph’s parking lot tonight. “is that the 2.8L?” asked the owner as i was rolling up the window. as i stepped out and answered, “no, its the 2.4, a 240” he complimented me on how nice it was, and he walked toward the front of the car he said, “i saw you driving, and i thought your car looked really clean.” i figured he would probably want to see the L24, so i reached back in and popped open the hood. “nice, very clean” he said, and we talked about Zs, and his friends in japan who have G-nose Zs with L28s. “are you into Zs?” i asked, and he answered, “porsche, i have classic porsches and drive a 914” the 330i was just his daily driver. we chatted a bit more about the work i had done on the engine, and oil seep issues his friends had had. talk of RB26 and SR20s of course took place. he kindly asked to see inside, so i reached thru and opened the passenger door. he was very impresseed with the interior condition, and i pointed out the 300zx driver’s seat and the original passenger seat.

as we walked around the car, he noticed the japaneese classic car show sticker on the rear window, with japaneese characters, and proceeded to translate them for me, “old, car, gathering” is what that says. nice. we chatted a bit more Z and both headed on into ralphs. “picking up dinner to take home. wife called. ” he said. proof again, that everyone has a Zstory.
